Meet Kim MacKay

Yoga with Kim is not only highly productive due to her impeccable attention to her students, it's fun. relaxing, non-intimidating , educational, and keeps you coming back for more. Last May marks the two year anniversary of my life -long  love of yoga. Nearly 3 months after beginning my yoga program which consisted of one class with Kim every week and one at home workout, it was evident that I was in-love and wanted more. I upped my weekly routine to 2 classes with Kim and 3 at home workout. Six months of this and my biggest result was the repair to my knee. About 4 years prior to yoga I tripped over an Adirondack chair with my knee landing hard on our concrete patio. After a few doctors visits it was clear that surgery wasn't in order, however, I knew my knee would never be the same. Enter Kim. After assuring me I wouldn't be required to get into any of those funky poses we're all familiar with, not only was I now able to get down on my knee comfortably, but going up and down stairs was no longer an issue. Ending on that note would be enough to sell me but on top of the knee repair I dropped slightly over one dress size (without any change in eating habits). Kim's knowledge of the muscular skeletal system helped me become much more aware of what my body was "doing". I gained focus, strength, balance, and noticeable range of motion. Although yoga hasn't cured all that ails me it has given me a tool to reach for when needed. A few minutes on the floor with a couple of simple poses and I'm good to go!

As someone totally new to the yoga world, I want to thank Kim for making it so easy to follow and so relaxing and great to learn.  I feel Kim is a good teacher and I really came away with a change in my thinking.

I have taken classes with Kim over the last several years and strongly recommend her - she is an excellent yoga instructor! Her classes really fit the student's level of experience. As a teacher, she is wonderful about guiding students and explaining the movements as you are working through them in class. In addition to that, she often recommends useful resources for when you are outside of class. If you want a good yoga experience - Kim is a great choice.

If you haven’t tried Yoga, ya NEED to. I used to be an avid Yogi but I let life get in the way and I stopped. Right now, life is crazy hectic and I’m craaaaving it. A lot of people tend to think the physical part of Yoga is the most important part. NOPE. I actually practice Yoga to better my breathing. It teaches me to better use my lungs which benefits the entire body. I feel a sense of calming in the central nervous system. Yoga also calms my mind, reduces stress, & makes me more aware of my body. More importantly, I gain a tremendous amount of self-confidence. And then of course, there are physical results: flexibility, strength, muscle tone & pain prevention. I know some people have tried it and said “this is not for me.” In my opinion, you need to try again. I think so many people go into Yoga focusing on the physical benefits. Spend some time and adapt to Yoga – promise, you will start feeling the mental benefits & you’ll be hooked.

Testimonies

My first experience with yoga was a private lesson with Kim. I was amazed how a one hour session could make me feel so good. I also participated in an Al Fresco class, which not only had a tranquill effect but was a lot of fun. Kim is attentive to your individual needs even in a group setting. I have RA and found her expertise and style of instruction very healing.

I discovered Get Bent Do Yoga earlier this year. not quite sure what to expect, I went to one class and became convinced I had been looking for yoga all my adult life. I truly believe Kim is the best instructor for Beginners. The class is very relaxed and comfortable for the beginner. Kim can help you make  adjustments with your poses. Health or phyical limitations are not an issue. Anyone can do yoga. I have had several injuries that I have seen huge improvements in. So come and join me in the best way possible to keep active and stay young!!!
